Welcome to Annapolis

Annapolis is the capital of Maryland and is home to the United States Naval Academy. Explore all that Annapolis has to offer!

While in Annapolis, try one of the many restaurants scattered along Main St. and West St. Here are a few local favorites.

Galway Bay is a local Irish Pub best known for its Corned Beef Poppers. The pub is located on Maryland Ave. and is one of the only pubs in all of Annapolis without a single TV in both the restaurant and bar areas.

Trying to figure out what all the fuss is about Maryland crabs? Well look no further than the Boatyard Bar & Grill! The Boatyard is located in Eastport and serves an array of seafood, from the ever popular crab cakes to the raw bar located at the center of the restaurant.

An all time classic Annapolis go-to is Chicken Ruth's Delly, located on Main St. Each morning at 8:30 sharp, the staff and customers stand and recite the Pledge of Allegiance, a tradition all Annapolis natives have taken part in. The delly was also featured on an episode of Man vs. Food, where Adam Richman attempted the 6 lb. milkshake and 1.5 lb. burger challenge. Click the video to watch the challenge!

There are many events in and around Annapolis to become involved with!

Since Annpolis is home to the United States Naval Academy, the USNA Band performs seasonal concerts. One of the more popular performances is the 4th of July concert, which is played on the dock located downtown. Many families and friends bring blankets and chairs to relax and enjoy the music!

During the holiday season, downtown Annapolis holds Midnight Madness Holiday Shopping. During Midnight Madness, shops stay open much later than normal business hours and are accompanied by local street performers and vendors to celebrate the holiday season! Another well-known holiday attraction in the Annapolis area is the Lights on the Bay. Lights on the Bay is a drive through light show located in the parking lot of Sandy Point State Park. The show displays an array of different lights and provides an amazing view of the Bay Bridge at night.

There are many races and running events throughtout the year. One of the most popular events is the Annapolis Running Classic, which is both a 10k and half marathon race. Runners start at Navy Stadium and make their way downtown, then loop back to the stadium. The early morning run time is perfect to catch the sunrise over the water! BR22996-640X427-556X371
